Our Mission Statement is:
Bring back the community spirit! Support the new era by being involved and participating in the Club to drive it forward to achieve long term financial stability and on-field success
What is a Supporters’ Trust?:
The Aston Villa Supporters’ Trust is an independent supporters’ organisation, representing the views of its members, Aston Villa supporters. The Trust was formed in July 2001 and works for the benefit of the Club and its supporters.
A Supporters’ Trust is a legally constituted organization for supporters, who
a. wish to play a responsible part in the life of the clubs they support,
b. committed to strengthening the voice for supporters in the decision making process at a club, and
c. strengthening the links between the club and the community it serves.
It is based on democratic, mutual, and ‘not-for-profit’ principles, where the objectives of Supporters’ Trusts will include:
1. Influence – the formation and running of representative bodies for supporters,
2. Ownership – the acquisition of shares in the football club to pool the voting power of individual supporters to further the aims and objects of the Supporters’ Trust, and
3. Representation – securing the democratic election of supporters’ representatives to the boards of directors of individual football clubs.
Long term Strategic Objectives
The objectives of the Aston Villa Supporters’ Trust, as defined by the Trust’s Rules, are:
Short to Medium Term Aims
As a Trust with potentially no ability to acquire shares in the short term (following the disposal of the Trust’s 1,200 shares to RAL), the continuation of the Aston Villa Supporters’ Trust enables the supporters to respond if there is a change in the position regarding shares.
The short term aim is to continue as an independent organization to:
a. represent the fans on supporter issues in discussions with the Club in an impartial and representative manner;
b. play a responsible part in the decision-making process by participating (e.g. as a regular attendee at the Supporter Consultation Group), influencing and providing professional advice, and show the benefit of supporter involvement; and
c. provide links to the local community.
Ultimately, by demonstrating the benefit of involvement, the Trust would facilitate the implementation of supporter representation at Board level.
